From culinary arts to debate to athletics,
Grossmont College students are winners! As the pages of this issue of Campus
Scene illustrate, we are indeed a “premier” community college! We have just
learned that the readers of the East County Californian have honored us by
voting Grossmont College “Best College” for 2005.
It takes a great team to make a great college, and I would like to thank
every member of our Grossmont College team for working together every day to
help and inspire students, and to make our learning environment even more
productive.
This issue of Campus Scene marks the end of our fall semester which
concludes the first half of our 45th academic year. We are making great
progress with our facilities: the Science Laboratory Building continues to
rise before our eyes; the groundbreaking for the new Digital Arts and
Sculpture Building Complex was a lively and meaningful ceremony; and we
prepare to open the new life safety road, to be known officially as
Grossmont Perimeter Road, in time for students to begin their classes
January 23.
Speaking of the spring semester, I would again ask that everyone help us
spread the word about opportunities to enroll. Adult Reentry sessions will
be held January 4 and 5. Our spring promotional campaign features the
“Brighten Your Future” theme. Look for our ads, listen for our radio
commercials, and remind your families and neighbors that Grossmont College
is indeed the very best!
Please enjoy a relaxing and safe winter break. I wish everyone the most
wonderful of holidays, and a very happy and successful
2006.

Respectfully,
Ted Martinez, Jr.
