With this issue of Campus Scene, we are pleased to disseminate the first two
“Call for Nominations” for 2004-2005 academic year awards. I invite you to
review the criteria for the President’s Leadership Award, and for the
Innovator of the Year. Please do nominate your colleagues or assist in
nominating someone in your department or office, and thank the College
Recognition Committee for their diligence in developing an improved calendar
to facilitate the nomination and selection processes for all our important
awards.
Thanks to the Enrollment Strategies Committee and to our academic deans, and
to especially dedicated faculty, there are more than 50 course sections in
20 different disciplines being offered in our upcoming three-week
Intersession beginning January 3. Many students benefit from the opportunity
to fulfill general education and transfer requirements in this compressed
format.
I encourage everyone to assist with recruitment for our upcoming Spring 2005
semester, which begins January 24. We have added yet more class sections
back into the schedule to help restore opportunities diminished by budget
cuts in the recent past. Please help spread the word.
At this joyous time of year, we are reminded of the many opportunities to
share our abundance. I would like to commend the ASGC and everyone who has
contributed to help our very special EOPS families. The campus toy drive is
still underway, so don’t forget to take new toys and teddy bears to the
Public Safety Office.
