Grossmont Gives Back: Month of Service, April 2017

This April we celebrate Grossmont College's second campus-wide month of service!

We invite everyone: students, faculty, and staff to participate in one, some, or all of the events below. 

 

 

Campus Beautification Project

Friday, April 7th, 8:30am - 12pm

Location: Health & Sciences Complex Lobby, Building 34

 Volunteers will learn about Grossmont College’s commitment to building a sustainable and environmentally friendly campus community and have the opportunity to help maintain one of our most innovative design elements.  *This project requires you to print and sign this release form. You can turn in your signed form the day of the event, or you can turn it into the Student Affairs office - Griffin Center, Building 60, Room 204*                                                                                                                          

Campus Community Art Project

Tuesday, April 11, 10 am - 2 pm

Location: Grossmont Campus: Main Quad

This is your opportunity to join fellow students and other members of the Grossmont community to create art that will showcase our campus' diverse and engaged population. Volunteers will help paint meaningful and culturally relevant murals and kiosks that will be displayed all over campus. This is your chance to contribute to a meaningful community art project no matter what your skill level. No artistic experience necessary! Sponsored by the World Arts and Cultures Committee and Blick Art Materials. *This project requires you to print and sign this release form. 15th Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup

Saturday, April 22, 9 am - 12 pm

Location: La Mesita Park, La Mesa

Join us on Earth Day, as we participate in I Love a Clean San Diego's 15th Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup. Volunteers will participate in one of the largest organized cleanups in San Diego, and help beautify an area of eastern San Diego County. We will be repairing and expanding one of the park's bioswales and clearing invasive plants. This event is open to the public.  So, bring your friends, your family, your neighbors, your friend's families, and anyone else for a morning of fun and environmental preservation.**This project requires you to also register on I Love a Clean San Diego's website (here). The site is La Mesita Park in Zone 4, East County.** *This project requires you to print and sign this release form. Serving Lunch or Dinner to San Diego's Hungry

Friday, April 21th and Friday, April 28th 10:30am - 1:30pm or 4pm - 7pm

Location: Father Joe’s Village (St. Vincent de Paul), San Diego.  Volunteers will help prepare and serve either lunch (10:30 am - 1:30 pm) and/or dinner (4 pm - 7 pm) at the downtown facility.  Due to the limited volunteer spaces for this project, this volunteer opportunity is only open to Grossmont students and select faculty at this time. You can turn in your signed form the day of the event, or you can turn it into the Student Affairs office - Griffin Center, Building 60, Room 204*
