Course Objectives:

  1. Identify the most significant contemporary determinants of optimal health
  2. Assess personal health status and individual lifestyle that influence well being.
  3. Acquire knowledge on the prevention and treatment of infectious and chronic diseases,
  4. Develop life long skill to improve nutritional intake and physical fitness.
  5. Acquire information on which to base lifestyle choices which promotes optimal wellness.

 Attendance and Participation:

Your participation in discussion is highly encouraged.  Students are responsible for all class work missed, even if absent. Three absences will result in being dropped from the course. You are expected to be on time and stay for the entire class period. Tardiness disrupts the class and will be count as an absence. Leaving class early will count as an absence.  Cell phones and pagers need to be turned off  

Exams:

There will be five multiple-choice exams.  The lowest score of the five exams will be dropped. You will need Grade Master Form # 25420 and number 2 pencil. Make-up exams are NOT allowed.  You are expected to attend class regularly and not miss scheduled exams!  Each exam is worth 100 points. You will be given a study guide for each exam.

Home Work Assignments:

There will be seven different homework Assignments. Refer to class Calendar for due dates. Handouts will be given in class.

No late assignments will be accepted.  Save all returned papers and exams! 

Extra Credit:  
         
Students may earn up to 25 extra credit points by carrying out some special project, subject to prior approval by the instructor.
