Aguilar
to play for S.D. Christian
(3/20) Grossmont outside hitter Sarah Aguilar has signed a full
athletic scholarship to play for San Diego Christian College next
season head coach Jamie Ivers announced.
The Hawks compete in the NAIA Division I, and the Golden State
Athletic Conference. They also appeared in the NCCAA National
Tournament in 2002 and 2003. |

Griffins show charitable side
2006 PCC Report
(10/29) On October first the Grossmont College women's volleyball
team took time out of their schedules to participate in AIDS walk
2006.
The successful walk and 5K run raised over a half a million dollars
for the charity.
All of Grossmont's players were involved in the event including
head coach Jamie Ivers.
The charity event proved to be a bonding experience for the players
and will surely be a yearly tradition. |

(10/24) Sara Aguilar, a freshman outside hitter from Santana High
School, notched 30 kills in the Griffins’ 27-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-28
loss to Imperial Valley.

Griffs beat Southwestern
(10/8) Grossmont beat Southwestern on Friday, 3-0. Sara Aguilar
was the kill leader with 16 and 2 errors, followed by Leah Tourney
with 6 kills and 0 errors.
(10/7) Grossmont's Leah Tourney was named to the
All-Tournament Team for the City College Tournament held September
30th. |
Grossmont women down Saddleback
(9/27) The Griffins won on the road Wednesday, beating Saddleback
in four games (31-29,
23-30, 30-28, 30-23.) Leah Tourney
paced the offense with 13 kills and only 2 errors, while
Leah Trask chipped in with 13 kills,
and Sarah Aguilar had 12 kills.
Kasha Figueroa was the dig leader
with 26 digs. The win lifts Grossmont to 2-4 on the season. |
Griffins Split at Santa Monica
(9/20) Santa Monica-
The Griffins split a pair of matches at the Santa Monica
Invitational on Saturday (9/16). Grossmont beat Santa Monica 30-20,
30-13, 30-24. Leah Tourney paced the Griffs with 14 kills and Kasha
Fugeroa registered 37 digs. Grossmont lost to Moorepark in four
games: 28-30, 25-30, 30-23, 20-30. Leah Trask again led Grossmont
with 18 kills and Kasha again led the Griffins with 30 digs. |

(5/16) New Grossmont College women’s volleyball
coach Jamie Ivers comes to the Griffins with over 10 years of
volleyball experience. Ivers earned her Bachelors Degree in
Kinesiology from CSU Fullerton in 2001. She is currently finishing a
second Masters Degree in Physical Education with Azusa Pacific
University. She already has an M.A. from National University in
Cross-Cultural Teaching.
Ivers most recently was an assistant coach for both the men’s and
women’s programs at Mesa College. The Olympians women’s team were
undefeated PCC Champs in 2004-05.
Ivers coaching experience also includes a year
as an assistant at Division I Idaho State University during the
2003-04 season. Prior to that she was an assistant for Division II
Adams College in Alamosa, Colorado.
Ivers has also served as an instructor at Adams
and Idaho State in Physical Education.
