Philosophy

Since 1995 our intent has always been to create a place where student athletes can continue to exercise their love for soccer in a fun, competitive environment with the main focus being academics. We have also created a legitimate “stepping stone” for players to continue to improve their skills and work their way to the 4-year level to continue their education and soccer careers.

Player Recognition

The Grossmont College soccer program have placed over 65 players on All-Conference teams, produced 26 Conference Athletes of the Week, 5 All-Regional team players, 1 conference Player of the Year and 1 Jr. college All-American. To date, more than 30 of the graduates from our program have gone on to play at the 4-year college level. More than half of those have received scholarships.  Several have become All-Americans, Conference players of the week and some have advanced to NCAA finals.

Facilities

All games and practices take place on the Grossmont stadium field which has the state of the art “Field Turf” playing surface. Unlike many of the natural fields in San Diego County, this is a very player friendly surface (soft) and has been proven to reduce the risk of injury, regardless of weather conditions. The San Diego Chargers, San Diego Spirit, New York Power (WUSA), Arsenal of England and other professional sports teams have use the field to train on. This surface is very flat and provides a very true roll, which is well suited for soccer.

We have a very knowledgeable full-time certified, athletic training staff. Our newly expanded training room facility is well-equipped to service all of the training needs for Soccer, Football, Basketball, Aquatics, Baseball, Softball and a host of other Grossmont sports programs. Our trainers provide the most up to date preventative and rehabilitative techniques available. Our conditioning staff is also very knowledgeable in plyometrics, strength building and injury prevention techniques.

Based on the diversity of the many programs offered at Grossmont and the high academic standards combined with the tremendous success of the athletic program and specifically the soccer program, Grossmont is a solid choice for the student athlete that is looking to extend their soccer career and at the same time work toward moving to the next phase in their education.
