Race Recap:

The team had cool clear skies for the So Cal Championships, which was held on the toughest cross country course in California at Mt. Sac. The Pacific Coast Championships was canceled due to the fires last week, and therefore the conference results were included within the So Cal Race.

Grossmont finished 5th in conference. With top runner Sarah Stuebe finishing 7th in conference, earning All Conference Status. Sarah also qualified for the state championships with her personal record performance. Three of our athletes were seriously injured; however they persevered and finished the race.

Grossmont’s top four runners were healthy and all ran seasonal best times. Sarah Stuebe went out fast at the start, and competed with some of the best runners in the state to prove that she belongs in the State Championship being held in Fresno on November 17th. The next three Grossmont runners Cindy Mata, Grace Davis and Kelsey Ramos all ran in a tight pack to insure a strong team finish.

State Championship Results

Crystal Reed Orange Coast 17:33 1st place

Tove Berg Glendale 18:00 2nd place

Glendale was the overall team state champion.

Sarah Stuebe Grossmont 20:25.

The Community College State Championship was held in Fresno at Woodward Park, on Saturday November 17, 2007. It was a perfect day for a Championship, and the runners were ready to race. Grossmont College runner Sarah Stuebe had a great race and finished a strong 63rd out of 189 runners. She also had a seasonal best time of 20:25, as well as finishing in the top ten of our Conference. "We are proud of Sarah’s race, and all the hard work our women put into this season," said head coach Robert Claesson. "We look forward to a strong and healthy team for the 2008 cross country season."
