Getting Started

ESL Assessment/Orientation/Advisement

English as a Second Language testing advising must both be completed before registering for any ESL class.

New ESL students MUST complete the following:

  1. Fill out an application to Grossmont College. Wait 24 hours for your application to process.
  2. Make an appointment for and attend a Testing session.  You will need to know your Social Security or ID number.
  3. Attend an Orientation/Class Selection session AFTER you have completed a Testing session.  You will have an opportunity to discuss your test results with an English as a Second Language instructor.
  4. Register for classes after you complete steps 1, 2 & 3.

ESL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE)

All English as a Second Language students planning to take an ESL class MUST attend a Testing Session and an Orientation/Class Selection session PRIOR to registering for classes.  All sessions will be held in Room 10-115 (Counseling Center).  PLEASE BE ON TIME. 

Testing will be available by appointments ONLY. To make an appointment, visit/call the Counseling Center (room 10-118, 619 644-7208) OR the Assessment Center (room 70-202, 619 644-7200).
