Administration of Justice

Who we are

Grossmont College is a community college located in San Diego county. We have approximately 19,000 students and a catalog of diverse courses, including many in Administration of Justice. One of our featured programs is Forensic Technology, which is one of a few such programs in the U.S.! In the Forensic Technology program, we prepare students to work with police crime labs in a variety of roles and offer such courses as Fingerprinting, Crime Scene Photography, and Forensic Technology.

We have five major emphases: Law Enforcement, Corrections, Legal and Court Systems Management, Forensic Technology and Security Management.  We also have a P.O.S.T. approved Police Academy & Dispatch Academy; Corrections Academy and Security Academy.

We have enjoyed a successful relationship with local police departments and crime labs and place our students in internship or work experience programs. Many of our students have become police officers, correctional officers, security managers, investigators, dispatchers and forensic specialists. A list of our former students reads like a Who’s Who of Public Safety and Security.  Many have become Police Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants, as well as agents or officers with the FBI, U.S. Customs, DEA, Border Patrol, State Police, Highway Patrol, Corporate Security and many other agencies, departments and businesses.

Students should be aware that prior felony convictions and misdemeanor domestic violence convictions are disqualifying for employment in public safety. Prior substance abuse and other disqualifiers may apply in specific positions related to law enforcement or forensics.
