The Legal Systems and Court Management Emphasis is designed to
provide an understanding of the development and purposes of the
California court system, with emphasis on the municipal, superior,
and appellate courts; internships between the segments of the
criminal justice system; principles and practices in civil and
criminal court patterns of non-judicial court support personnel;
basic legal vocabulary; aspects of the jury system; rights to speedy
and public trial and assistance of counsel; issues in court
administration and inherent powers; and , the future of the court
system. Students who earn degrees or certificates in the Legal
System/Court Management Emphasis are prepared for employment as
court clerks and administrators.
Students should be aware that prior
felony convictions are disqualifying. Prior substance abuse and
other disqualifiers may apply in specific positions related to law
enforcement or in Legal Systems/Ct. Management positions.
