BOT 151, Using Microsoft Outlook, 1 Unit (Online)
|
Course Information |
|
Microsoft Outlook is an information management application that provides tools to send and receive e-mail, organize schedules and events, maintain contacts lists, to-do lists, and notes. Organizing and managing information is fundamental to both personal and on-the-job work, and as such, it is one of the most important skill areas students can learn. Transfers to CSU.

It's highly recommended that you purchase your book at the Grossmont Bookstore. The Grossmont Bookstore book prices may be less expensive and accuracy is guaranteed. If bought separately, outside of the Grossmont bookstore, you may pay more than you should and sometimes the books are the wrong version or missing pages needed to complete the course. Also, keep in mind that if you're purchasing your books online it can take up to 10 days for you to receive your purchase. Please click HERE to view the Grossmont bookstore's current prices.
The textbook, software and other required materials you will need to complete the course will include:
1. Textbook: Microsoft Outlook 2010 on Windows Vista, Paradigm Publishing, Denise Seguin, (ISBN: 978-0-76383-016-8)
2. Software: Microsoft Outlook 2010. I highly recommend buying the entire office suite. It will not cost much more and you will get all the latest Microsoft applications that you can use individually and/or integrate with Outlook. If purchased at the retail price you will pay anywhere from $100-$300, although there are great deals for students where you can pay a fraction of this amount. Please click the links below for special student prices.

Setting up Outlook to connect with your email account |
Setting up Outlook can be a bit difficult if you have never done it before, if you already have it up and running you’re ahead of the game. Depending on what internet service provider (ISP) you have will determine how you will setup Outlook, and they are all different.
The link below will show you instructions on how to setup Outlook if you’re using COX, RoadRunner or Hotmail. Cox and RoadRunner are internet service providers (ISP) that give you up to 7 email addresses you can use as part of your service. These two are the most dependable when working with Outlook in my experience. Hotmail is a free email service that anyone can use with any internet connection. Hotmail is a bit more difficult to setup and you may experience some loss of functionality when using Outlook, but it will still allow you to complete the course successfully.
Outlook 2010 Setup Instructions
You may also use other email services to connect with Outlook, but you will have to do some research online to figure out how to set it up yourself. One very dependable, up-to-date and thorough site to research is the MS Office site. Click the link below for further researching of Outlook 2010.
