Each full-time instructor will have a
telephone in his/her office or have ready access to one.
Extension numbers are listed in the Staff Directory.
Calls for part-time instructors are normally connected to the
instructors voice mail.
Every part-time instructor who can be reached at a campus office must
give the information to the switchboard.
Students may leave messages for faculty by calling 619-644-7000 and dial the voicemail number or by dialing "0."
Faculty may retrieve and clear his/her voice mail box by dialing 619-644-7454,
dial voicemail number and the *, and then enter passcode.
Information regarding use of this message service is available from
Business Communication Services office, extension 7135.
Students may not leave messages if the individual instructor has not
arranged for a voice mail box number.
Toll calls or long distance calls are not authorized except when they
involve the college or district. If a long distance call is
attempted, a fast busy signal is heard meaning an outside line must be
cleared through the college operator, "0."
Although personal calls may not be placed from college telephones, an
emergency may make it necessary to do so. Have the call charged to
a personal credit card.
Local calls may be placed by dialing "9" and the number
desired. 1-800, 411, and 911 may also be reached by dialing "9." Local
directory assistance calls are billed to the college district;
therefore, staff should use phone directories. Telephones are not
for use by students. Students may obtain permission from their
supervisor; information is available through the college operator.
For urgent questions or telephone trouble reports, dial extension 7135 for Business Communications Services Departments should inform Business
Communications Services of any change in office hours or relocation of
office.
Recorded Information: If there is any occasion when
questions will be asked repeatedly by many people and can be answered
with a short, concise message (or when a special event is taking place
for which students or the public may wish information), Communication
Services can put on recorded information which will play messages for a
day, semester, or as long as necessary. A recording can be put on
this system by sending the written information to Communication
Services.
