Welcome to the Grossmont College Accreditation web site.
Here you will find significant information regarding the people,
processes, and tasks related to the reaffirmation of Grossmont
College by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior
Colleges/ Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC/WASC).
The visit by representatives of ACCJC/WASC to determine whether the
college will be reaccredited is scheduled for Fall 2013.
The ACCJC/WASC is a regional accrediting agency recognized by the
United States government. Accreditation by this agency signifies to
the educational community and to the public at large that Grossmont
College has met the standards of quality recognized as necessary for
graduate competence and public funding.
The primary undertaking to prepare for the ACCJC/WASC visit is the
preparation of a Self Evaluation of Educational Quality and
Institutional Effectiveness Report (also known as a "self
study"). The self study report is based on historical
and contemporary information about the operations of Grossmont
College. It also contains analyses and recommendations regarding
those operations, which demonstrate institutional commitment to
nurture its strengths and ameliorate its weaknesses through
appropriate actions.
Because of the need to involve varied constituencies and use a
spectrum of sources to prepare a self study that fairly represents
the past, present, and future of the college, this web site provides
access to diverse resources important to the construction of this
document. By using links to resources itemized on the left, you will
develop an understanding of the nature of the task, as well as find
avenues to use in helping to create a self study that offers a broad
perspective on the heritage and prospects of Grossmont College.
