I. CALL TO ORDER

B. Approval of Minutes

The minutes from the November 15th meeting will be reviewed at the next meeting on December 6th due to today’s meeting being a special meeting.

ll. PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Beth gave a brief review of the history leading up to the leadership concerns regarding the Chancellor. She shared the following dates

December 6th – the Chancellor would be attending the Academic Senate meeting to discuss some of the concerns.

December 7th – Next Governing Board meeting.

January 10th – Resolution date deadline for the Chancellor. This date is one week prior to Professional Development Week.

January 18th – Professional Development Week and all faculty will have the opportunity to meet with the Chancellor. This meeting will be the last session of the day.

Resolution of Concerns in Leadership of Chancellor Suarez

1. Tabled and Amended Resolution of Concerns with the District Leadership of Chancellor Suarez from November 15th, 2004 – Attachment #1

2. Amendment A – Attachment #2

A motion was made to take the resolution off of the table from the November 29th meeting.

The group reviewed and discussed Attachment #1 and Attachment #2.

A motion was made to divide the resolution into three sections in order to simplify the process of review and decision. It was suggested the three sections be Whereas, Be it Resolved, and the Cover Letter.

The group approved.

A motion was made to accept the adoption of the "Whereas" section only of Attachment #1.

M/S/U Wertlieb/Tuller

A motion was made to discuss the amendments to the original "Whereas" section.

M/S/U Wertlieb/Burger

Jerry Buckley gave a brief review of the amendments in the "Whereas" section on Attachment #2. The group reviewed and discussed the differences between the two attachment sections.

A motion was made to replace the "Whereas" section in the original resolution, Attachment #1 with the "Whereas" section in Attachment #2.

M/S/U Wertlieb/Wirig

The group then reviewed and discussed the "Be It Resolved" section of the resolution. It was suggested that "Grossmont College" be removed and the word "identified" be changed to "recommended" in action #1.

A motion was made to agree upon the use of the "Be it Resolved" section and the date of January 10th, 2005 in Attachment #1 the original version of the resolution.

The "Cover Letter" attached to the resolution was then reviewed.

A motion was made to accept the "Cover Letter" on Attachment #1.

Beth gave a brief overview of the decisions that had been agreed to; the "Whereas" section from Attachment #2 would be used, the "Be it Resolved" section from the original Attachment #1 would be used and the "Cover Letter" would be deleted from the resolution.

Beth thanked everyone for their hard work during the process.

The group discussed the question and answer process that would be used with the Chancellor at the next Academic Senate meeting. A variety of possible processes were discussed.

Rick Walker, ASGC President, announced that the ASGC had T-Shirts left over from the Campus Appreciation Day event on November 18th. If anyone is interested, please let him know by e-mail. Victoria Howitt thanked the ASGC for the great job that was done regarding the Campus Appreciation Day event.
