Attachment #1
RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT DR. MARTINEZ
7-8-2005
Whereas, Grossmont College is currently served by Dr. Ted Martinez as President where he has demonstrated effective leadership and boundless commitment to faculty, staff and students; and
Whereas, The district has no process for the consistent inclusion of any constituent groups in the evaluation of the president of either college as documented in the last accreditation site visit; and
Whereas, The Governing Board failed to extend Dr. Martinez’ contract despite the benefits Grossmont College has realized under his leadership;
Be it Resolved that the Grossmont College Academic Senate requests a written explanation of the process by which the college presidents are evaluated; and
Be it Finally Resolved that the Grossmont College Academic Senate requests an immediate extension of the contract for Dr. Martinez because of his strong advocacy for Grossmont College, in particular, Grossmont College students.
Attachment #2
RESOLUTION ON ACCREDITATION PARTICIPATION
7-8-2005
Whereas, The United Faculty has engaged in fruitless negotiations with the District regarding a compensation package for nearly a year; and
Whereas, The above-mentioned negotiations have reached a stage where work actions are legally permitted; and
Whereas, The United Faculty recommends that faculty withdraw from all work except primary duties (those with a "*" in faculty job descriptions) which may cause faculty to temporarily resign from the accreditation self-study standard teams, shared governance committees, and senate committees; and
Whereas, The Grossmont College Academic Senate is the body that oversees the appointment of faculty to committees and standard teams pursuing academic and professional matters;
Be it Resolved that the Grossmont College Academic Senate supports the UF call for all Grossmont faculty to temporarily withdraw from all non primary committees and standard teams until the United Faculty compensation negotiations reach an approved conclusion; and
Be it Finally Resolved that the Grossmont College Academic Senate directs the Senate Officers to inform the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC/WASC) of the above named actions.
