Job Placement
Description
The pressing need in the Job Placement office is for a new office software
system. Different products continue to be investigated with the assistance of
Information Systems. The new student record system, while certainly presenting
some challenges for the department, may also present opportunities to address
this need.
Some Job Placement services are now available through the office’s Web site.
More work needs to be done to further expand and automate these services.
Office hardware is adequate and meets Information System’s minimum standards.
Student Services Impact
New office software will allow us to run Job Placement more efficiently and with
less risk of service interruptions. We will be better able to track job offers
and student use of our services. Web pages give students and employers greater
access to Job Placement services, especially the collection and posting of jobs.
Approximate Number of Students Served
Approximately 6000 students are served each year.
Support Impact
A new office software system will require a great deal of support from
Information Systems. Successful installation, initial training, and ongoing
maintenance will involve close partnerships with that office.
The development of new web pages will require technical assistance.
The new student record system will require a huge amount of training and support
from Information Systems. This is in addition to their support of existing
hardware and software used by the department.
