Theatre Arts Department
2002-2004
Description
Theatre as an art form continues to be enhanced with technological tools. The faculty has incorporated many aspects of this technology into their curriculum. Theatre Arts students need to have access to the tools that are becoming more common in the industry.
Curriculum Impact
With the continued refining of Theatrical equipment, a method of updating antiquated equipment must be implemented. In addition, virtually every competitive commercial practitioner of theatre now uses a computer in some manner for drafting, rendering, presentation, fiscal concerns, writing or scheduling. The Theatre Arts program must fully embrace computer aided design and communication methods, along with traditional hand methods, as part of each course. Also, existing apparatus must continue to upgraded and replaced with more up to date technologies and equipment.
Approximate Number of Students Served
500 students in 25 lecture and lab sections Mondays through Saturdays.
Support Impact
Installation and general ongoing maintenance to be completed by existing Theatre Arts faculty, staff and District technicians.
Year 1 (2002-2003)
Objective
Pursue the purchase of a digital camera for Costume and Make Up classes. This item was due to be purchased in the spring of 2001 but a District Budget shortfall rendered money unavailable. The Monitor Interface and Designer Graphics Tablet for the Theatre Computer Lighting System are being carried forward. Upgrading Department Laptop computer has been carried forward.
