Learning Resources: Library
Including
Instructional Media Acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
2002-2004
Description
In addition to its traditional collection, over the past few years the library has increased its on-line databases. This method of accessing reference materials and periodicals has become extremely popular with students and librarians. The book collection is made up of traditional hard-copy print-on-paper volumes and thus far digital storage for books has not become a viable competitor. The video collection is extremely popular with faculty members and their requests for new titles far exceed the available budget.
Curriculum Impact
The impact of the increased on-line resources is to facilitate access to instructional materials and information. This allows instructors to expect more in-depth research from their students without the students having to go to another library. This accessibility carries with it the responsibility of evaluating the relevance of the information available.
Approximate Number of Students Served
The library has the potential to affect all students and all disciplines.
Support Impact
The on-line databases are expensive and the number of titles on those databases will increase. The budget for all instructional materials should be increased. Additional information professional (librarian) support will be required.
Year 1 (2002-2003)

Some technology was upgraded and staff development was provided when possible. The interlibrary loan courier was still an hourly position.
