Description
Provide an up to date technology stations for rooms 202 and 204 that will be specifically equipped to support ceramic education and objectives. Provide continued establishing of automated kiln control project through completion
Curriculum Impact
Ceramic students will be able to take advantage of the technology tools that have direct applications to their Ceramic Arts Education. Students will be able to utilize imaging techniques for their individual works and fire them with the latest computer controlled kilns.
Approximate Number of Students Served
Ceramics served approximately 350 students per academic year
Support Impact
This equipment will be installed by a variety of in house technicians and outside vendors. Maintenance is limited to replacement of bulbs or other repair. This work must be done by qualified personnel from IM or the manufacturer (for warranty work). This equipment can be installed by department personnel. † Maintenance of the equipment will require assistance from on-campus and district computer support personnel.
Year 1 (2002-2003)
Objective
Upgrade Ceramic Cart System # 1 and # 2.
Secure Jeff Irwin (faculty) a high end Macintosh computer system and peripherals.
Secure Les Lawrence (faculty) a high end Macintosh computer system, peripherals, firewire and CD Burner.
Complete the funding and implementation of the Ceramic Kiln Automation and network control system.
A higher level of Macintosh technical support.
Establish video projection system for room 202
Action to Meet Objective
Purchase a flat bed scanner and a 600 dpi Hp LaserJet printer.
Up grade Les Lawrence office computer and monitor to a high-end Mac system including software and hardware.
Up grade cart #1 by installing Les Lawrence’s G3 and a new monitor.
Up grade Jeff Irwin office computer and monitor to a high-end Mac system including software and hardware.
Up grade cart #2 by installing Jeff Irwin iMac.
Purchase for Ceramic Cart #1 and# 2 software and software upgrades.
Purchase and install in Room 202c ( Jeff Irwin's office), A high end Mac with all necessary peripherals and software. Jeff Irwin’s iMac would then become the #2 cart upgrade
Purchase the following software to complete faculty and student cart station computers.
4 Adobe PhotoShop upgrades.
4 Tech Tools Pro software.
4 Alsoft Disk Warrior software.
Digital video camera
Continued gas automation hardware and software.
Purchase and install in Room 202 Data projection equipment with the necessary wiring to utilize already existing Macintosh computers. Purchase a Mac lap top G4 to facilitate data projection programs.
Year 2 (2003-2004)
Objective
Upgrade Ceramic Cart System # 1 and # 2.
