After an avant-garde puppet show put on by The Old Fashioned Kite Flying Puppeteers (from the Marie

Hitchock Puppet Theater in Balboa Park), Aimee Bender ascended the stairs to the stage of the Room

220 Auditorium to read short fiction from two of her popular books, Girl In the Flammable Skirt and

Willful Creatures.  Two paintings by Grossmont College art students were featured on the walls flanking

the stage; each painting depicted a scene from one of Bender's stories.
