Marge Piercy is the author of
seventeen novels including The New
York Times’ bestseller Gone To Soldiers
and the science fiction sensation He,
She, and It, and sixteen volumes of
poetry. Piercy’s recent collection of
poetry, The Crooked Inheritance, is
described by Martín Espada as
“eloquent outrage against war and
injustice; vivid evocations of a
working-class family; gritty
recollections of the city; and a
passionate appreciation for mature
love.” Born in center city Detroit,
Piercy was the first member of her
family to attend college and has been
a key player in many of the major
progressive political battles of our
time, including the conflicts over the
Vietnam War, the women's movement,
and most recently the war in Iraq.
