Praxis offers monthly computer tips, tricks, and hints. Please see the CATL website for more information about CATL offerings.

Announcements

Praxis has changed its format, as you can see!  We think this very basic look is more user-friendly than the previous Praxis, and much easier to digest.  Send your comments about Praxis to pat.morrison@gcccd.edu.

Tips
Excel Sorting: The default setting for sorting in Ascending or Descending order is by row.  To sort by columns:

1. From the Data menu, select Sort, and then Options.
2. Select the Sort left to right option button and click OK.
3. In the Sort by option of the Sort dialog box, select the row number by which the columns will be sorted and click OK.

Tricks
PowerPoint - Creating fancy comments:
  • Create a comment on a slide by choosing INSERT/COMMENT
    • you will notice that a standard size rectangle note will appear and it will also have your name already printed in it, if you may change and type something else in place of your name if you would like.

Hints
Entering an address into a browser: To make this a quicker process, if the address is in the format: www.name.com, simply enter the name, such as "ford," and press control/enter.  The computer will supply the rest!
